Books and Bonfires ft. Brittany Rogers

Books and Bonfires ft. Brittany Rogers

Come join us for a cozy night of connection with local poet Brittany Rogers as we discuss her debut poetry collection 'Good Dress', a dazzling exploration of "Black Detroit, Black womanhood, community, class, luxury, materialism, and matrilineage." Around the warm setting of a bonfire we'll share in conversation, vulnerability, and curiosity as we ask ourselves—and each other—what it takes to make us who we are.

Brittany Rogers is a poet, educator, and lifelong Detroiter. She has work published or forthcoming in Prairie Schooner, Indiana Review, Four Way Review, Underbelly, Mississippi Review, Lambda Literary, and Oprah Daily. Brittany is a fellow of VONA, The Watering Hole, Poetry Incubator, and Pink Door Writing Retreat. She is editor-in-chief of Muzzle magazine and co-host of VS Podcast.

Books & Bonfires is hosted in partnership between R3BRAND 13 and She So Detroit with the goal of connecting young women-, femme-, and nonbinary-identifying Detroiters with the narratives we hold close to us. Questions regarding the event can be directed to either organization at r3brand13@gmail.com or shamere@shesodetroit.com.
